6-7pm in the Cozy Corner
We love literature because of the authors that came before us. We love their style, their ideas, their personal touch on the very words they choose to use. Their words take us to settings real and imagined. They develop characters that become like friends and family to us. Author adaptations will leave you feeling inspired to develop your own style of writing, your own ideas, and put a personal touch on the way you choose to tell your story.
Each month we will take a look at authors who mastered their craft and adapt them in a way that reflects us as independent authors. You will walk away with stories started, points to ponder, and a community of collaborators to support your storytelling journey.
And don’t forget, we love literacy, so you will absolutely take with you more titles to add to your reading list.
Table Talk - November 6th - 6-7pm
Let’s gather around the table and talk! One way we get to know our characters better in a story is by listening to the things they say. Some of the most important things we remember about others are the things they said to us, or the things they said when they were around us. This month we will think about conversations, real or imagined, and how those conversations, or even important quotes, can tell us a bigger story.

Stories of Home - December 11th - 6-7pm
Home. That one small word creates a different image for each and every person. Even if two people were living in the same home, the things we choose to focus on might be different. Whether it is the smell of a home cooked meal, the sound of the creak in the floor, or the sight of the evening sun shining in the front window, we can bring those images to life through story. This month we will focus on details and descriptions that create a home we know, a home we love, or even a place we hope to call home one day.
A brief history of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Mister Rogers Homes from around the world
Sensory details to describe home Where do you see yourself in or around home?
January 15th : “You” as Story The view from which we look at something is so important. That’s why the second person point of view is so interesting. Second person point of view speaks directly to the reader. This style of writing is seldom seen because of its direct nature. But, can’t that also make it beautiful? This month we will analyze second person point of view and how it impacts readers and how, as writers, can establish this form of writing.
February 12th: “Embrace” We all handle life a little differently - some prefer tackling head on, some prefer “rolling with the punches,” and some are in between. No matter where you stand, there is always a sense of embracing the things around you. Join us this month to consider how authors use writing as a way to navigate and explain their styles of embracing events in their life. Walk away feeling equipped and inspired with new strategies to help you embrace whatever you may be going through!
